TRANSMISSION PRICES

Why can't you give me a transmission price to fix without taking it apart first?

Transmission Prices: A consumer might easily miss a symptom. Unless the vehicle is brought in, so a trained technician can see, or hear, the difference between a rattle, buzz, grind, whine, or a slip. We simply can't be sure of what's wrong with your transmission until we take a look inside. Nobody can.
Symptoms like noises, leaks or vibrations can signal a wide range of possible problems, not necessarily a single malfunction. Many malfunctions occurring with transmissions may be caused by a component outside the transmission like a Throttle Position Sensor, a MAP sensor, or even a simple fuse. We give your transmission a thorough diagnosis to absolutely know what's causing the symptom.
If anyone ever tells you he can accurately diagnose what's wrong with your transmission without a thorough diagnosis (which may include looking inside), you'd better get a second opinion.
Transmission Prices: there are many factors to take into consideration. First is type of transmission. There are hundreds of different types of transmissions on the market and in order to know what type of transmission you have we need the exact year, make, model and engine size. The reason for this is the manufacturer is known to change the transmission from year to year. An example of this is Ford with the AXOD transmission. There are many different versions of this transmission and even with correct year, make model and engine it is still possible that there could be two different versions available for the vehicle.
Another reason for not knowing the exact transmission price is we rebuild your transmission in our shop. All of the transmissions are built with the parts that are needed to try to save you money. We could have two of the same exact transmission on our bench and the rebuild price will be different on each one as in most cases, one of them will need more than the other one.
The most important reason it is hard to give a price on the phone is honesty. As stated above, we build your transmission with what it needs, not with what will make it more expensive. A lot of shops will give a price over the phone that they cannot stand behind. What they do is give you a price of a “soft parts overhaul” even though they know that in order to warranty a transmission the torque converter needs to be replace and that there is also the possibility that there will be some hard part damage that will cost extra.  We want to be able to honor that price, when we give Transmission Prices .
